I. Opportunities Offered by HKUST and Its Mainland Partners

Application Note:
  1. This note applies to all short-term experiential learning programs offered by our Mainland host institutions, and coordinated by Mainland Opportunities and Mainland Student Liaison, Student Affairs Office. Students interested in the programs are advised to read this note carefully before lodging their applications.
  2. All full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students are welcome to apply for the programs, whilst some Mainland host institutions may give priority to undergraduate students, only consider applications from undergraduate students, or set quotas for post-graduate students.
  3. Both local and non-local full-time students are welcome to apply for the programs. Some host institutions may give priority to local students, only consider applications from local students, or set quotas for non-local students. Students interested to join should be aware of that the programs currently offered by our Mainland host institutions are conducted mainly in written Chinese/Mandarin. Some host institutions may require that non-local students who participate in the programs to have certain levels of proficiency in written Chinese/Mandarin.
  4. Students who are interested in joining the programs are required to submit an application according to the application method as stated below. The application form is available in Chinese version only for the ease of handling of host institutions.
  5. Quotas for experiential learning programs are distributed on a first-come-first-served basis. In general, shortlisted applicants will receive an email of notification within two weeks after the application deadline. Our Office may alter the application and notification period without further notice. Non-shortlisted applications will be put automatically under the waiting list.
  6. Shortlisted applicants are required to inform the Office at their earliest convenience and certainly within the deadline set, if they wish to decline the offer so that students on the waiting list may be granted the opportunity earlier. Failure to reply to the email(s) of offer on time will be regarded as an indication of no acceptance.
  7. All costs after landing on the designated Mainland city will be borne by the host institution. Participating students will be responsible for other expenses including travelling expenses to the designated city, insurance and so on. There is a fund available to support such expenses, click here for details.
*The experiential learning programs currently offered by our Mainland Host Institutions are conducted mainly, if not totally, in Chinese (written) and Mandarin (spoken). We are working closely and actively with some of our Mainland Partner Universities to explore possible opportunities for you to develop a better understanding of China.
