HKUST Community Service Awards are intended to recognize and encourage HKUST students who have outstanding and proven effort in helping others and in different context in the community, locally or abroad. Candidates with exemplary service record will be honored with the Awards.
Background of the Awards
1. Roy To Community Service Award
The Roy To Community Service Award was established in June 2008 in memory of Mr. Roy To, an HKUST graduate who passed away in a traffic accident on a service trip to Inner Mongolia organized by the World Emergency Relief. The award aims to recognize HKUST students with exceptional contribution to community service.
Full-time UG and PG students with a proven track record of continuous and active participation in community service.
The award will be presented every year to the HKUST student who best exemplifies the service spirit for which the late Mr. Roy To is remembered. A medal and cash award of $5,000 will be presented to the awardee.
2. HKUST Alumni Endowment Fund Community Service Award
Launched in March 2012, the Alumni Endowment Fund (AEF) has received immense support from our alumni. A group of alumni who had rewarding experiences in servicing fellow students, the University and/or the community during their student lives would like to encourage more students to get involved and care about the society and people around. Thus, they have donated to the AEF and would like to use the interest income of the fund to honor students who have demonstrated strong commitment and leadership in volunteer services and contributed to the community with proven track records.
Full-time UG and PG students actively participate in servicing fellow students, the University and/or the community as well as those who carry out projects with impactful results on regional/global issues.
The award will be presented every year to a maximum of two HKUST students who have shown continuous devotion in volunteer services with proven leadership and organizational ability. A cash award of $5,000 will be presented to each awardee.
Applications are to be made by the submission of the application form and supporting documents to Student Affairs Office (room 5016, 5/F., near lift 3).
