Application Arrangements for MTR Student Travel Scheme 2018/2019

The MTR Student Travel Scheme 2018/2019 is open to full-time registered students at the age below 26. Please read the following notes carefully for application details.
 

Application period:

All year round after the commencement of the academic year (i.e. 3 September 2018)
 

Eligibility: 

  • Registered full-time students aged below 26.
  • Students who are on leave and not paying tuition fee will not be eligible for the scheme until they resume their study or their registered student status is updated.
     

Getting the Application Form

Bring along your valid Student ID Card in person to the Student Service Counter at G/F Student Lounge of the Indoor Sports Complex (near lift 4 or lift 6) during operation hours as listed below:

Monday - Friday (except public holidays)
9:30am – 12:30pm & 2:30pm – 5:00pm

Exchange-in undergraduate students can get the application form through Global Student Programs Office (GSPO).

Each eligible student can get ONE application form. The form is pre-printed with the name of HKUST and endorsed with an official stamp. Please take note that:

  • Students are required to present the Student ID Card in person for checking and record keeping when obtaining the form.
  • Limit 1 form per student. Application form will not be re-issued or re-endorsed for any student who has already obtained one in DSTO records. The form should not be transferred to anybody else.
  • DO NOT lose or damage the form, as it will not be re-issued or re-endorsed.
     

Submit the Form for Application
For new application: complete the Endorsed Application Form with a photo affixed. Submit it together with an application fee of $90 in person within 14 days to any MTR Customer Service Centre^. Collect your card at the designated MTR station on the date as specified in the receipt.

  • For renewal application: complete the Endorsed Application Form (no photo required) and drop it into the collection box at any MTR Customer Service Centre^ within 14 days. Activate your Octopus Card with an administration fee of $20 at any MTR Customer Service Centre^ on or after 1 October.

When submitting the form and/or collecting the Student Octopus Card, students are required to show the HKUST Student ID Card and/or HKID Card to MTR staff for authentication of HKUST student status and eligibility.

^ Except Airport Express Stations, Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau, Racecourse, Disneyland Resort, Sunny Bay, Wong Chuk Hang, Lei Tung and South Horizons Stations

Aged under 18
Students at age under 18 are required to complete the Statement of Consent by Parent or Legal Guardian in Part D on Page 4 of the form.  If a student cannot get the signature from parents, please leave the completed form to the counter staff.  Our staff would pass the form to the Dean of Students, the legal guardian of the University, for his signature. The processing time normally takes a week. Students will be notified to pick up the signed form via email to their ITSC account.
