  One of the missions for our Peer Counselors is to build a warm, supportive and caring university campus.  Over the past years, they have contributed a great variety of ideas in supporting different student groups through fascinating and creative events.  Taking this opportunity, we are pleased to share with you some of the caring projects carried out before.  Once again, great appreciation to our kind, loving and generous Peer Counselors who have served our campus voluntarily!

Our Peer Counselors from Cohort 7 organized a Caring Day on 20-21 March, 2014  to promote a caring and supportive culture on campus.  The Caring Day provided different means for students to show their care to their friends and people around them. It included song dedication, instant photo taking and sending post cards to friends and parents. More than 100 students wrote a post cards to show their care and love to their friends and parents, and our Peer Counselors helped them to mailed the post cards for free!

HELPFUL "VENTURE IN THE DARK"

A night especially organized by our "HELPFUL" Peer Counselors to help you discover yourself through a darkness environment. It provides an opportunity for you to experience breaking barriers in life and to understand equality between one another. It serves as an excellent mind-opener and stress-release before examination period.

In "UNDERSTANDING" the needs of you, our Peer Counselors visited the library and other common areas to cheer up their peers by giving out "cheering notes and sweet reminders" to students during examination periods. An active way in giving support.

SMILE "13 THOUSAND OTHERS - HAPPINESS"

What makes you "SMILE"? Our Peer Counselors are offering a great opportunity for you to share your happiness' stories, in any parts of your university life through video shooting. Thank you for all students having their smiles and happiness' stories taken on our film!
THOUGHTFUL "STRESS-FREE DAY @ MUI WO"
Date: 1 June 2013 (Saturday)

Our Peer Counselors have come up with a "THOUGHTFUL" plan in exploring around the island of Mui Wo. A stress-free moment was spent at Mui Wo before students examinations!

Hong Kong Peer Counselor Tung Lung Island Hiking Trip for Enjoying Stress-free Environment on 7 Apr 2012
Target Service Group: HKUST students
Content: Organized by PCs in the Outing group. An idea of enjoying and releasing academic pressures after your mid-terms and enjoying an island with beautiful scenery and full of ancient monuments. Thanks very much for all the Peer Counselors' effort, contributions and planning for this Hiking Trip! Team building games and flying kites in the stress-free environment, full of breeze for students to have a relaxing time as well meeting new friends.

Share Tea Share Care Day
Target Service Group: HKUST students and staff
Content: Our Peer Counselors organized a tea festival showing warmth, care and appreciations for students and staff. Thanks for the great contributions, effort and idea from PCs. It certainly was a great idea to accomplish at this peak exam period for students to help releasing their pressure!


HFA Buddy Scheme (尋找HFA的天空- 伙伴計劃)
Target Service Group: HKUST Students
Content: A learning week in understanding ways in communicating with HFA people (High Functioning Autistic Spectrum Disorder) organized by Peer Counselors and 香港耀能協會 (SAHK) in Apr 2012. Hand-made Easter eggs were given to students / staff who can answer questions relating to HFA. Thanks for the great efforts and ideas in making the Easter eggs, filmed a brand new video about HFA and in inviting students in answering questions about HFA.

*Workshop in initially introducing the concept of HFA to our Peer Counselors was organized by SAHK on 17 Feb 2012.

Survival Cantonese
Target Service Group: Non-local students
Content: Thanks for the great efforts and preparation of all Peer Counselors in Cantonese Group, in preparing a workshop for students to learn Cantonese in 1.5 hours, the basic needs that non-local students may need in adapting to Hong Kong, as in Dim Sum ordering and Cantonese slangs, it is a way in understanding more of Hong Kong's language.

PC Cheer You Up
Target Service Group: HKUST students
Content: Thanks for all Peer Counselors in PC Cheer You Up Group, great creative skills and efforts throughout their busy mid-term schedule in preparing candies and cards around campus and cheering students up during their mid-terms. We can see happy faces inside the libraries and computer barns, surprised and nourished by our PCs cheerful smile and greetings.

Cooking with Fun & Love
Organized by Peer Counselors Group 4, "Cooking Buddies". An opportunity for students to share their joy of cooking outside Café. We can feel the fun and love from the smell and the taste of the delicious dishes! Fusion of Chinese and Western cuisines, with rice dumplings to celebrate the Tuen Ng Festival!

PC Cheer You Up
Organized by Peer Counselors Group 3, "Do-Um". It is a meaningful and wonderful activity for the HKUST fellow students! They felt amazed when they received the "Cheer Up Pocket" with a cheer up card and a piece of candy inside. It's like a clear spring-fed stream nourishes the mind of the hard working students!

BBQ Night at Clear Water Bay Beach
Organized by Peer Counselors Group 6, "Sunshine". An exciting night where the non-local students get together to chit-chat about Hong Kong's culture and famous places around. Having a relaxing and fun time playing volleyball, sharing stress relaxation practices and meeting new friends.

Organized by Peer Counselors Group 8, "Octopus". Through this 1-hour workshop, many students from mainland and overseas have grasp the basics of common Cantonese phrases and dialogues that are very useful in their University's life.

Organized by Peer Counselors Group 1, "University of Scenery and Trials", a group hike being amongst the tranquil beauty of nature for UG students, helping us relaxed and making new acquaintances far away from the hustle and bustle of the academic school work.

Organized by Peer Counselors Group 11,"Never too Late", PG students and newly admitted students in Spring Semester 2011 are invited to join the Board Game Night.  Through this activity,  participants can have a chance to meet new friends as well as to relieve stress before mid-term exams.
